Graines de Pâtissier is a program operated by the Valrhona Foundation since 2017.

Originally, it was observed that more than 12% of young people aged 15 to 29 in France are “neither in employment, nor in education, nor in training.” In 2021, this equated to 1.4 million young people according to INSEE. At the same time, the pastry-bakery sector suffers from a lack of workforce. While this was already the case in 2017, the figures from France Travail 2024 indicate that 19,000 positions are unfilled in this sector, with a recruitment difficulty rate of 65%.

This is why Graines de Pâtissier’s mission is to “promote the re-engagement of young people distant from employment through encounters with the profession and artisans.”

In other words, this program aims to create a bridge between these two actors to support young people in professional reintegration towards a sector in search of its talents!

Since 2017, 545 young people have participated in the program, and 50% of them have entered training or employment upon completion of the course.

To achieve these results, the program is now deployed in 14 cities across France and offers 360° support to the young participants. To this end, the Valrhona Foundation works hand in hand with the National Network of Second Chance Schools, local E2Cs, 14 training centers, and of course, artisans who welcome young people for internships to share their passion.
